Abstract Roots Series
Unpublished and innovative series composed of a set of works made in palm fibre support, which the artist weaves together and used as a canvas. Ramón Juan is nourished by the same nature to create a second skin of the palm tree, which allows him to express himself later. That canvas born of the palm tree is the hallmark of his origins. The end aim is not to express or capture his feelings, but to rid himself from the majority of these in order to allow a new phase to flourish, full of new sensations, that allows artistic evolution and deep personal growth. This set of works were presented for the first time in the exhibition "Roots of Experimental Expressionism" that took place in the Villanueva Pavilion of the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid.
Roots Series
It is formed mainly by a palm fibre support called "seaso", which is the fibre that wraps the trunk of the palm, and interlacing that fibre builds a natural support as a canvas, to later paint moments and motifs related to his origins. This sculptural canvas from the palm tree, as if it were his own skin, is the hallmark of his origins and influences for his work
My Skin Deep Feelings Series
Guided by his knowledge of the footwear industry, Ramón Juan discovers a mix of different paints, that act as a background for the art work and that he describes like this: ´…. it´s as if I´ve ripped off my skin, I express my feelings in them….´This painted support forms a part of the same series of art work, some of pieces of art using over 70 kg of paint. ´ If a hand passes and says that all the paint from the art work will disappear, there wouldn´t be anything left…´ This thrilling series represents thoughts, worries, fears, happiness, despair… ultimately, the pure feelings of the artist embodied in this ¨skin¨ of paint which creates a support to the art work.
Formal Study Series
In this series, the artist demonstrates the interest and attraction he has always felt for shape and volume, as well as the study of the human body. For the artist, every gesture, every position, every movement, represents in itself a set of feelings worthy of analysis, with the capability to be and to feel.
Abstract Textures Series
The artist uses his art work as a way to cleanse his interior. The end aim is not to express or capture his feelings, but to rid himself from the majority of these in order to allow a new phase to flourish, full of new sensations, that allows artistic evolution and deep personal growth. It requires continuous movement and activity which can be nurtured and refilled again.
Inks Series
In this series of abstract paintings made on paper, the artist Ramón Juan shows strength and color, clearly reflected in his more primitive abstract strokes.
Art Work in Public Spaces Series
A tribute to the role of women, as the paradigm of balancing family and working life. The bronze life sized sculpture emerges from the water like a symbol of life, as if it were Venus. It’s a new resurgence, a new birth of this worthy work, that has given so much to the city of Elche. The work captures the essence of the first sewing machines, reproducing one of the first Goppingen machines, which our grandparents first used to work in Elche, sewing the material for canvas sandals and thin layers of leather. It’s a tribute to each and everyone of them who has worked in this field, from the start to our Contemporary who work in this today.
